While “self-love” and “body-positive” have been used in the plus size community mainly by women, our big and tall men are now stepping up the plate to have some serious discussions of their own regarding body image and today’s society. The 2018 TCFStyle Expo proudly presents an open panel discussion with Kelvin Davis of Notorious Dapper, Kirklan Hawes of XLTribe and Mickey Armstrong of District of Curves for the mens panel, The Male Body Image Product.

This panel is here to shed light on what men are taught on the subject of sharing their feelings nor talking about anything that may be perceived as “weak.” This mindset causes many men to suffer in silence for fear of being ridiculed. Mickey Armstrong

Armstrong is a native of Chesapeake VA and a graduate of Norfolk State University. In 2008 he began his work with the “Curvy Community.” As a photographer, Mickey published The Curves Ahead Project, a book of photography centered around full figured women & their journey through life as full figured women. In 2014, Mickey & his team created District Of Curves: The Washington DC Full Figured Fashion Showcase. He is the creator of Curves En Noir: The DMV Plus Awards & creator & producer of the YouTube show, “The Plus Report, with Monica “The Kurvy Diva.”

Kelvin Davis Of Notoriously Dapper

Notoriously Dapper is a body positive men’s fashion blogger that has been paving the way for the plus men since 2014. Since popping up on the scene he has been a force to reckon with. He dresses with style and flare.

Kelvin Davis, from South Carolina, started his hugely popular Notoriously Dapper blog after a bad shopping experience and has vowed never to be ashamed of his size again. His daily style guides inspire men all over the world to stay body positive and fashion forward.
Notoriously Dapper is not just a model and Instagram influencer but also a published author. His book, NOTORIOUSLY DAPPER: HOW TO BE A MODERN GENTLEMAN WITH MANNERS, STYLE AND BODY CONFIDENCE was nominated for NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work.  Kelvin has been featured in Glamour, Huffington Post, and Cosmopolitan and has worked with brands including Toyota, JCPenney, and Fossil. And recently on the DXL campaign with DJ Khaled.

Kirklan Hawes of XL Tribe

Kirklan Hawes is the owner of a premier body positive blogger that has been uplifting men since 2016. This site was birthed from an old idea I had to create a community of like-minded guys that was tired of being miss represent and wanted to be displayed in the truest form.
